Helping You Choose the Right Path for Your Child
One of the most important responsibilities of parenthood is choosing an educational experience for your child. For most parents, this means finding a school environment where intellectual, social and emotional abilities grow in unison, where critical thinking, imagination and curiosity are cultivated, and where responsibility, independence and respect for self, others and the Earth are fostered in every child. Ruffing Montessori School is a learning community dedicated to these values.
Following the Montessori philosophy and view of the universal characteristics of the child, Ruffing provides a prepared environment that recognizes children respond to independent choice, are motivated by interest, learn by doing, are lovers of purposeful work, and experience profound joy in that work. In short, the Montessori method provides the best opportunity and environment for children to thrive.
Ruffing's faculty is our most precious resource and we take great pride in our teaching staff's experience and training. In addition to undergraduate and graduate educations, our teachers are trained Montessorians, fully imbued with this century-old educational philosophy. Many have taught at Ruffing for more than 20 years, and all care deeply about the whole child who is their student.
Ruffing recently completed the redevelopment of our campus, following LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) principles. Our new facility was created using "green" construction methods, materials and technology, resulting in a building that was specifically designed for an optimal Montessori learning environment. Our new classroom spaces are bright and spacious with dedicated classrooms for art, music, world language and gym, as well as outdoor gardens for each class, kitchen areas for baking and a generous playground and green space for outdoor recreation.
Ruffing offers the following Montessori programs:
We are pleased that you are considering Ruffing for your child and encourage you to call Julie Haffke, Director of Admissions, at 321-7571, for more information or to schedule a tour and classroom observation.
