Parent Education
Parent Education opportunities include formal talks and discussions with staff and guest speakers throughout the year, sponsored and planned by both the administration and the Parents Association. Topics cover child development, the Montessori Method, curriculum and parenting, providing information and a forum to exchange ideas. On every level, Orientation evenings at the beginning of the year give parents an overview of the expectations and areas of focus for the year; Curriculum Nights offer deeper understanding of the skills and subject areas; Conferences are individual meetings, held twice a year, where parents and teachers discuss the progress and plans for the student.

There is a Parent Lending Library near the administrative offices where books on Montessori, child development and parenting issues may be borrowed.

Communication
Communication between the school and home is provided through Ruffing Today, the school newsletter. It is published on the third Thursday of every month, includes a monthly calendar of events, timely announcements, news about the school and information about school events. Little Ruffing Today is published on the first Thursday of the month and includes parent directory updates and time-sensitive notices. As part of our "green" policy, we make a conscious effort to reduce waste whenever possible and prefer to email our newsletter to our families who have provided an email address and to post the newsletter on the school website. In instances of a last minute emergency or facility problem, the school has contracted with InfoXChange, an automated Voice Broadcast system, which is able to contact families by telephone.

Ruffingwear
Students - and adults, too - wishing to buy school insignia sportswear can order through Ruffingwear, the school's authorized provider of sweatshirts and pants, golf shirts and tee shirts, fleece vests and jackets, umbrellas, aprons, totes, backpacks, umbrellas and more. Fill out an order form and send to the School Office.
