Toddler Community

Ruffing’s Toddler Community is a nurturing Montessori classroom for children ages 18-36 months. Providing a “home away from home,” our youngest children can learn and grow individually, while also participating in cooperative group play and lessons with other children. For the children enrolled in our Toddler Community, each day presents an opportunity for strengthening language skills, refining gross motor skills, developing fine motor skills, and encouraging independence.

The classroom is a beautifully prepared environment bathed in natural light and designed specifically for the very young child. Under the warm guidance of our Montessori-trained lead teacher and her classroom assistant, our children engage in practical life pursuits, such as gardening, dressing, and food preparation, as well as reading, puzzles, art, music and conversation. Independence is fostered by allowing the child to choose from a variety of activities that he or she can accomplish with success. The daily practice of these activities enhances the child’s ability to communicate with confidence, move with grace and develop self-reliance.

The Toddler Community follows an academic calendar, beginning in late-August and concluding in early June. Ruffing offers three enrollment options for our Toddler Community families, all Monday through Friday:

Morning Program:  8:30 am – 11:45 am
School Day Program:  8:30 am – 3:15 pm
All Day Program:  7:45 am – 6 pm

Ruffing provides Before-School Care and After-School Care for an additional cost.
