Endowments are restricted funds intended to generate a predictable source of funding for the School in perpetuity for operating needs, financial aid, or other stipulated purposes. Ruffing's restricted funds exist as follows:
Established in 1998 with a generous start-up gift from Charlotte & Jack Newman, the Financial Aid Endowment generates funds for mission-appropriate families who, without assistance, would not be able to attend Ruffing. The Fund has grown with support from parents and friends over many years, and from gifts donated in 2014 in memory of Stuart Dowling.
The Gordon L. Maas Enlightened Generalist Fund supports professional development opportunities for Ruffing faculty. The fund was created with generous donations from Ruffing parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends in honor of Gordon's 2016 retirement after serving as Ruffing's Head of School for 16 years.
The Little Ones Fund was established in 2014 in honor of Natalie Bluestone, a beloved Ruffing Children's House teacher, upon her retirement after more than 30 years. The Fund provides resources to support the needs of 'little ones' in our preschool classrooms.
Ruffing's General Endowment Fund was established in 2016 to generate unrestricted operating funds on an annual basis. Gifts to the General Endowment Fund provide the most flexibility to Ruffing to apply where most needed.
